Control Freak ? Check out the new LG KF700

The new KF 700 from LG is slick looking and refreshingly easy to use and is all about control, there’s a touch screen a key pad dial and a jog dial so take your pick.

The 3inch touch screen is responsive, clear and a good size - although size isn’t everything girls. The menus are easy to navigate and very intuitive especially the text messaging, which for me is a biggie given how much of a text addict I am, although scrolling up and down on the longer messages was a wee bit tricky, as was adding the recipients name at the end.

I loved the return key function on each screen whenever you want to get back to where you started, always handy when you’re a bit lost and the folder choices on the main screen were really useful. Especially liked when you entered the first few digits of a phone number and the relevant contact names automatically appeared, v tidy.

One thing that I found *so* annoying was the location of the lock key on the right hand side of the phone, quite an important key it’s fair to say. It’s just not a natural place to access when holding the phone in your hand so makes it difficult to use, although if you’re left handed it would be ideal. It’s also right next to the camera button so easy to load the camera inadvertently, resulting in some very attractive photos of my handbag! Having said that when you do use the camera * intentionally* I was impressed with the quality of the photos, v clean and crisp and the functionality of the advanced settings was also pretty good.

I didn’t like the jog dial (scroll wheel thingey )- on the left hand side of the phone, in fact never really used it to access the menus, it just seemed a little pointless and unnecessary and the fact that you had to click to a button to activate it then scroll to the shortcut then had to click the button again to select was all a bit long and involved, (a bit like this sentence!) especially as there were easier ways, in my opinion, to access the same info. Not a great location either again better placed for lefthanders.( It would be better to click the wheel in to select your choice - in a kind of blackberry “styleee” but unfortunately that’s not the case here.) It was however useful for adjusting the volume when talking to people with very loud voices and zooming in and out when using the camera.

Overall I was pretty impressed with what this phone had to offer and it seems especially good if you’re left handed. It’s an easy to use, stylish looking phone for anyone who is considering going for a touch phone but there are just too many ways to access the menus so is just a little over complicated.
