Eye-Fi cards - not good for thieves!

Alison DeLauzon lost two digitial cameras full of snaps and video of her young son - which you would be gutted about on more than one front.

But hold on then something happened that she didn’t expect at all. The camera sent photos of the thieves to her computer!

The reason for this was down to the Eye-Fi 2 gigabyte SD memory card. These cards have wireless capabilities that upload photos to a home computer or online photosharing service when a familiar wi-fi signal is detected. The thieves, presumably unaware of this technology, passed by an unsecured wireless network and all the pictures on her camera - including snaps of the thieves - were uploaded to her account - brilliant !

Furthermore Ms.DeLauzon recognised the thieves who worked at a restaurant where she had dined and got her camera equipment back too. Don’t you just love technology!

Wow, I really want one of those cards. Might have to buy one soon. I’m forever taking photographs and hate the hassle of uploading photos.
