Just how cool is Cuil ?

Check out the new search engine launched by ex-Google employees set to take on the likes of Google and Yahoo. Cuil pronounced ‘cool’ is derived from the Irish word meaning knowledge.

Following its launch, the new search engine has proved more popular than anitcipated and is struggling due to the overwhelming demand!

Having had a quick look, the way the search results are displayed seems to be pretty ‘cuil’. It attempts to analyse the concepts behind each query and groups similar results together and sorts them by category along with images to identify subjects.

It also has indexed an incredible 120 billion web pages which is apparently 3 times more than any other search engine.

I tried searching for my site and wasnt overly impressed with the results so not loving it just yet…watch this space!

Sex and the city iPod speaker

We like shoes, we like cosmopoilitans, we like SJP, so we just love this new SATC iPod speaker.  It’s hot pink and comes with stilettos and a martini glass branded on it, how sassy!

It’s cute, convenient and ultra portable for all you fans out there, and it’s even eco friendly as it has no batteries to buy or dispose of.

Available on line for $19.99 from the HBO store.

Calling all Girl Gamers !!

So I recently hooked up with a UK scriptwriter working for EON Productions (they make James Bond movies!) and he is writing a feature film about gamers going to vegas and he needs more information about girl gamers to make his characters true to life.

If there are any girl gamers out there who would like to hook up with him and tell him about your experiences of being a girl gamer it would be great, and how exciting to be involved with a potential feature film!!!

This is the kind of stuff he is after:

  • how are you different from male gamers?
  • what makes girl gamers tick ?
  • what is the reaction from guys about you being a girl gamer?
  • what other interests do girl gamers have?
  • do you wear fashion/trinkets/jewellery that announces your interest in games?
  • any anecdotes/gamer related stories that have arisen from girls playing games?

If any of you out there are interested contact me via the girlgeekchic contact form http://www.girlgeekchic.com/contact  and I will pass on your details.

Thanks !!

We all need a bit of USB fan lite bug!

Feelin hot hot hot ? well check out this laptop aircon.  If you’re stuck in superhot, stuffy office instead of basking in the *allbeit* transient sunshine, this will do the trick in cooling you down.

The USB fan lite bug simply plugs it into your USB port, the fan clips to the top of your screen and hey presto you have a cool stream of fresh air all for you. Very refreshing!

It’s available at www.wellmike.com for £6.99.

Mix tape USB stick

Remember back in the day when you used to make compilation tapes of all your fave tunes? I used to love getting mix tapes made for me before the advent of digital music and MP3 players….now you can recreate it (sort of) with this mix tape USB memory stick. It’s such a cool idea for a pressie.

Just simply add your own tunes to the USB stick which sits inside the tape style gift pack , add your own message and playlist and give it to someone you love!

You get 64 MB which will give you about an hours worth of high quality music, bit like the old C60 !
