Reduce your golf handicap with a little help from Leica

The LEICA PINMASTER enables the user to enjoy a superb close-up view of the golf course (or other location) and determine the precise distance to the pin easily and accurately, therefore allowing the player to make an informed choice on club selection. The user simply aims the PINMASTER at the pin, and at the press of a button, the eye-safe laser beam – coupled with ‘first target logic’ technology – will measure the exact distance to the pin with ease, in the blink of an eye. The accuracy of Leica’s first target logic ensures that the PINMASTER picks out the very first object in its path, i.e. the pin, rather than tree branches or other objects behind it.Tough and durable but with a lightweight carbon-reinforced body, the LEICA PINMASTER is watertight to a depth of one metre, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions on the golf course.

Based on the successful LEICA RANGEMASTER CRF, renowned for its high-performance optics, the LEICA PINMASTER also features a tried-and-tested single key operation. Aiming the device at the pin and pressing the activation button brings up an LED aiming square within the magnified view. The user then aims the square at the pin, and a second press triggers the metering process. Distance measurements up to 820 yards (longer than any hole in the UK) are shown in the LED display within the viewing system.

Jon Sareen, commercial manager, Leica Camera Ltd, said, “The PINMASTER measurements are accurate to +/- one yard for the majority of crucial golf shots – those under 300 yards. It’s almost like having the world’s most experienced caddy with you on the fairway.”

Furthermore, the LEICA PINMASTER offers a 7x magnification and a large field of view of 347 feet at a distance of 1,000 yards. The eye-piece features a dioptre adjustment, which enables the user to select the best setting for their eyesight, and is suitable for people who wear glasses. In addition, the LED display automatically adjusts its brightness to suit the ambient lighting conditions of the day, being bright in strong sunlight whilst dimming down in low light, so as to be visible and user-friendly at all times.

The LEICA PINMASTER not only saves time capturing distances, but also delivers precise readings every time. The extensive range and fast, simple operation mean users avoid the complexity and expense of maintaining electronic mapping systems, and furthermore, the PINMASTER performs accurately whatever the weather conditions.

Use of the LEICA PINMASTER on the golf course is allowed under R&A rule 14.3.

My BBC2 ‘Something for the Weekend’ Gadgets

Here are my gagdets from the show yesterday, I have to say I was bricking it slightly as none of the gadgets acutally worked in rehearsal!! Having said that, they all seemed to work in the end so it all turned out ok, oh the joys of live tv…

The Pocket Pint

Lovejoy’s fave gadget this week was the Pocket Pint. An expandable plastic glass, with all the telescopic prowess of, err, a telescope, it simply pops out on demand, to hold up to a pint of fabulously foreign drinking fluid, in a simply marvellous imperial measure.

Fitting easily into one’s briefcase, rucksack or manbag, the cup comes in a protective sheath that helps stop all manner of stickiness.

Price £5

The Terror Wasp

OMG I really didnt like this one, it just had a mind of it’s own in the studio and kept flying off when it wasnt even on!! Spooky! Lovejoy did a great job though of flying it so well done him, I just don’t get flying toys!

This Wasp is the next generation of RC Flying Toys following the first generation single rotor mini heli’s. The great thing about this new design is it uses a twin rotor, which gives it much better stability – you can actually control it left and right and trim it accurately using a wheel.

Rotor blades are made from a new flexible material, which bends on impact – no matter how many times you crash it all the impacts are absorbed by the materials.

Fly in a small space – twin rotor blades give it better balance enabling it to hover in a single place without wondering uncontrollably.

Football Remote Control

Lovejoy didn’t really see the point of this one, but I think it would be a great pressie for kids who are football mad. It’s a universal remote control  that not only allows you to watch the footy but also lets you practice headers during half time.

Oh yes – a kickable, flick-able remote control that replaces your TV, VCR and DVD’s remote. With easy to use touch buttons set amongst the black and white design the Football Remote Control is an essential for any lover of the beautiful game.

Come and see my etchings with the new Oakley shades

Hello everyone, I’m The Gig, the new GirlGeekChic reviewer, this week we look at some cool Oakley Sunglasses with a difference!

Last week I had the pleasure of being at The Open, golf that is, and getting caught up in the excitement of a 59 year old trying to make a mark for the older generation, in the end it wasn’t to be but it was fun while it lasted.

Any how I digress, one thing I did notice whilst in Turnberry was some cool Oakley sunglasses, the reason they were so cool was because of the lens etching. Basically you can write what ever you want (within reason) on your lens to personalise your shades mmm girlgeekchic shades for Nikki?

Oakley are currently running a promotion of free etching on certain styles while stocks last and 40% off retail and free etching on other limited stock styles, best idea is to go to their website and have a nosey at www.oakley.com.
