Mobile Phones

Driinn! No more messy cables!

Cables, cables and more cables! We all know what that feels like. Then check out this funky looking solution to put a stop to all that messiness. Woo hoo!

It’s designed in Holland and is aptly named the Driinn – the noise the Dutch use to describe when a phone rings, quite cute really.

The Driinn hangs between the battery charger and plug socket and sits neatly against the wall. Just wrap the cable around the holder and your phone is stored safely on the little ledge.

It comes in black, lime green, reddy orange, pink and white and the shelf is approximately 4″ wide and 3″ deep. Now all you need to do is work out how many of the little suckers you need. Errrm let me think, mobile, Blackberry, iPod, shuffle…the list goes on!

They retail at $10, check out www.spoonsisters.com for more details.

Blackberry Bold is beautiful

The new Blackberry Bold aka Blackberry 9000 is very sexy looking, it just seems curvier, more elegant than previous models and it has a really nice looking display.

Fancy changing the colour ? It has replaceable leatherette blackplates that come in blue, red and grey depending on where your mood takes you – allbeit fairly boring colours!

There are a lot of wireless options too including integrated WiFi, HSDPA support and built in GPS. It also has a  2 megapixel camera and  video recording. You get 1gb of onboard memory, 128mb of flash memory but if you’re still left wanting more there is also an SD expanision slot.

It’s not available as yet but when I get more details you’ll be the first to know, I want one, me me me !

Dear Girl Geek: I’m due a phone upgrade, I want something sleek and sophisticated

Dear Girl Geek,

I am due an upgrade on my phone and I want something that is sleek and sophiscticated, easy to use and with a lot of memory for photos and videos. I usually have Samsung’s but am looking for something a little different this time, although if there is a great Samsung about at the moment I’d love to hear about it!

Thanks

Sarah

New iPhone 3G – cheaper, faster, available July 11th

Apple has unveiled their new much faster, much cheaper second generation iphone  – and its free on selected tariffs on 02- woohoo !!

The new iPhone comes with built in GPS satellite navigation and improved 3G technology. According to Apple boss Steve Jobs the new 3G iphone is “three times faster” compared to the original iphone and without any battery sacrifice which is good news.

It’s got thinner edges (we like thin) and a full plastic black back but for those of you that prefer white the 16 GB version comes in a white casing.  The earphone plug is now flush to the case so if you want to get rid of the trademark white headphones you no longer need an adaptor.

If your’e thinking of getting a new phone this really does look quite sexy, it’s £100 for the 8GB nd £159 for the 16GB (dependent on tariff) but if you can snaffle a contract where you can get it for free that’s the way to go!

MoPods are a must have

We can always rely on our Japanese friends to introduce whacky inventions and they haven’t let us down in mobile phone department with MoPods.

These little things are the latest craze to have swept over from the Far East and look set to be a collector’s dream. There are seven, yes seven of these little things to get your hands on Puppy, Monster, i-Penguin, Kitten, Monkey, Devil, and the new Golden Penguin all of whom live encapsulated in their own transparent dome. Bless!

Now would you believe it but these things do actually have a purpose as well. When your mobile phone rings or receives a text within a metre of your MoPod then the little blighter will get in a tizz, spin round and round and a little light will flash wildly in reaction. The perfect visual warning if your phone is on silent or you are in a noisy bar.

Whether hung on your bag, clothes, keys or mobile, MoPods are a must-have, or as they say in Japan, a “hitsuyou”. Does that mean Kitsch?

They should work with most phones but I’m sorry to say all you on Three network will be disappointed they’re not compatible with your handsets.

RRP £4.95 – bargain !
