5 tips for online shopping from work

Top Tips

Christmas is getting closer (yay!) and most of us work and most of us like to shop. Check out these 5 top tips for staying safe when shopping on line in the holiday season.

1) Use your desktop PC, not your mobile device, to shop, because your desktop browser is likely to be more secure.
2) Protect sensitive information, like credit card numbers, by password-protecting both your mobile device and its memory card.
3) Make sure you update your anti-virus and anti-malware programs continually.
4) Treat social networking sites with the same caution as other web sites-social sites are a growing target for fraudsters and virus writers.
5) Be cautious of special offers. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Fake online offers and coupons may lead to harmful sites, so be suspicious.

Five of the best for Fathers’s day

It can be soooo hard trying to find a decent pressie for Father’s day! Check out these top 5 girlgeek gadgets for your daddy. Which one would you get?

Wireless talking bbq thermometer

Ok, I challenge anyone to find me a Dad who doesnt think the BBQ is his domain! The Oregon Scientific AW131 Grill Right is a great gadget for checking the meat is cooked (that’s not a eupehmism!) and actually tells you so with a verbal (and audio) alarm. Simply programme the thermometer, select your level of ‘doneness’ and chill till it’s cooked! Available on line for around £35.

Pen fishing rod

Calling all fishing obsessed fathers! This clever little gadget is about the size of a large marker pen (about 8″) and wait for it… opens up to become an aluminium alloy 4ft fishing rod, how cool is that! It comes complete with a left and right handed reel (packed separately), a 5lb breaking strain line, and even includes a triple hook spinner. Never again will you be caught short when you spot a jumping salmon, as it’s small enough to carry with you everywhere, then again, only women catch salmon don’t they?!

Available at www.iwantoneofthose.com for £24.99

Remote control beer cooler

This is the one for you if your dad is a bit lazy and likes beer. It’s a remote controlled drinks cooler. You just fill it up with beer, then use the controller to steer it towards the next thirsty punter. Marvellous! I know quite a few guys who would like this, spesh when watching footie with their mates! It will set you back around £40 though.

Leatherman skeletool CX

DIY Dads will luv this one. This is five ounces of fury and comes packed with 7 tools! including a 154CM combo stainless steel blade, pliers, bit driver, pocket clip and carabiner/bottle opener and it looks really cool.

Available on line for around £80.

Overboard dry bags

This is great for dad’s who love watersports (ooerr), boating or even just chillin’ on the beach. It’s 100% waterproof, floats if you drop it in water and comes in the following sizes 5, 12, 20, 30 and 40 litres. Perfect for when you accidentally drop all your clothes overboard on your yatch in St Tropez!
